Sable Offshore Corp. Accelerates Platform Hondo Restart Plans
Sable Offshore Corp., an independent oil and gas company based in Houston, Texas, has provided an operational update on its Platform Hondo. The platform's reconstruction and internal commissioning are complete, with Sable having modernized it from a manually controlled platform to one with up-to-date technology and safety standards.
During the recommissioning period, Sable worked productively with the Marine Minerals Administration (MMA) and anticipates the MMA's final review and approval of Platform Hondo's instrumentation, control, and safety commissioning submission in October 2026.
The company plans to accelerate and complete four additional Perforation Addition operations on Platform Hondo ahead of its expected Q4 2026 restart. This will result in completed Perf Adds on nine out of the platform's 15 production wells before restart, producing an incremental ~600 barrels of oil per day at a cost of approximately $800,000 per operation.
Meanwhile, Sable is planning to complete operational and facility upgrades at its Las Flores Canyon Midstream Processing Facility (LFC) to increase emulsion processing capacity. These upgrades are expected to allow LFC to handle production from all three Santa Ynez Unit platforms at their full productive capacities, reducing downtime in Q4 2026.
On the marketing side, Sable's preliminary estimate of oil sales during July and August is approximately 32 thousand gross barrels of oil per day averaged over the two months. September oil sales volumes are expected to be around 34 thousand gross barrels of oil per day.
