Samsung Heavy Industries has secured a massive order for six vessels worth KRW1.65 trillion ($1.2 billion) from an Oceania-based shipowner.

The order includes four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and two crude oil tankers, with the LNG carriers accounting for $1 billion of the total value and the tankers worth a combined $200 million.

Each LNG carrier will have an increased capacity of 200,000 cubic meters, allowing operators to transport the same cargo volume with fewer voyages and improving efficiency per unit carried.

This order raises Samsung Heavy's commercial-ship bookings for 2026 to $7.3 billion, surpassing its annual target of $5.7 billion by 28%.

The company has booked a total of 42 commercial vessels and units this year, including LNG carriers, crude oil tankers, container ships, gas carriers, and ethane carriers.
