San Diego Gas Prices Soar Past $6.18 Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict
The average price of gas in San Diego County has surged past $6.18 per gallon, marking its highest amount since May 12. According to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service, this is the 30th increase in 31 days, with a total rise of 50.4 cents over that period.
The recent Middle East conflict has driven up pump prices nationwide, particularly in states like California that import significant amounts of oil from the region. Kandace Redd, senior public affairs specialist at the Automobile Club of Southern California, noted that 'Middle East oil supply concerns continue to impact pump prices.'
Oil prices have receded somewhat since their peak earlier this week, but would need to drop significantly more to affect pump prices locally.
