San Diego County's gas prices are still hovering above $6 per gallon despite a slight decrease, according to recent data from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price of self-serve regular gasoline dropped four-tenths of a cent on Saturday to $6.415, its second consecutive small drop after 42 increases in 44 days that brought it within seven-tenths of a cent of its all-time record.

The current average price is 4.4 cents more than one week ago, 51.7 cents higher than one month ago, and $1.647 more than one year ago. It has increased by $1.729 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on February 28.

Analysts predicted that California gas prices would begin dropping slightly after Governor Gavin Newsom's announcement late Monday that cheaper winter-blend gasoline will be allowed to be sold immediately in California gas stations.
