Sanctions-Stricken Arctic LNG 2 Doubles Production Amid Record Export Levels

Russia's Arctic LNG 2 project has defied US sanctions by doubling its daily gas production and reaching record levels in July and August. The enterprise produced over 27 million cubic meters of gas per day, almost twice the level of August 2025.

This sharp increase in production coincided with a significant rise in product exports, with LNG shipments exceeding 500 thousand tons in each of the two summer months. This set a new maximum for the project.

The key limitation for Arctic LNG 2 after sanctions was not only sales but also maritime logistics. The expansion of the available fleet from 11 to 20 vessels by early autumn 2026 allowed for an increase in LNG shipments to China, which remains the sole buyer of the project's products.
