Sankamap Metals Expands Fauro Exploration with High-Grade Gold and Copper Findings
Sankamap Metals Inc. has expanded its exploration efforts at the Fauro property in the Solomon Islands, uncovering promising gold and copper samples. Recent surface sampling revealed values as high as 116.0 g/t gold and 4.0% copper, while silt sampling from an unexplored area returned up to 6.78 g/t gold. The company has collected 829 samples, with 798 assays pending, providing a substantial pipeline of additional exploration results.
Systematic sampling has uncovered new gold and copper exploration targets in areas with limited historical data. The company plans to conduct an induced polarization (IP) geophysical survey over high-priority target areas to refine drill targets. Following this, an initial 2,000-to-3,000-meter drilling program is scheduled.
The Fauro property, spanning 24,100 hectares, is located within a copper-gold mineral belt hosting porphyry and epithermal deposits. Historical exploration has identified mineralization at multiple targets, including Meriguna, Kiovakase, and Ballyorlo. Chief Executive Officer John Florek noted the discovery of active gold-bearing systems within the project area, further supporting the company's exploration efforts.
Meanwhile, gold and copper markets are drawing support from price resilience and supply trends. Daniel Ghali of Deutsche Bank highlighted gold's resilience despite elevated bond yields, noting official-sector purchases and institutional diversification into the precious metal. Copper's supply environment is described as acutely constrained, with prices expected to rise.
