Sarawak Eyes First-Ever LNG Import Terminal Amid Global Demand
The state of Sarawak in Malaysia has partnered with Hoegh Evi to develop its first-ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal, despite being home to one of the world's largest LNG export hubs.
The terminal will be a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), jointly developed, owned, and operated by Petroleum Sarawak (Petros) and Hoegh Evi.
The project aims to deliver first gas by the end of 2029 and will supply gas not only to Sarawak but also support other services such as small-scale LNG distribution, truck loading, bunkering, storage, and reloading activities.
