Saudi Alerts Sparked Amid Yemen Conflict Escalation

Saudi Arabia's security alerts were issued in Mecca and Jeddah on Tuesday after a week of attacks by Iran-linked groups. The warnings were quickly lifted, but no one immediately claimed responsibility for possible attacks.

The Houthis, linked to Iran, said they had carried out several major attacks on Saudi Arabia over the past week, including striking an air base on Monday. They called it a response to airstrikes on Yemen.

Saudi authorities blamed a separate pro-Iranian movement based in Iraq for Friday's attack that disabled the East-West oil pipeline, which connects oil fields in the Persian Gulf region with the Red Sea and has become the kingdom's main export route amid disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
