Saudi Arabia Accuses Houthis of Drone Attack on Mecca

Saudi Arabia has accused the Iran-backed Houthi militia of attempting to attack Mecca, Islam's holiest city, with a drone on Tuesday evening.

The Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen said the Houthis launched the drone, but it was shot down by the Saudi Air Defense Forces before entering the city's restricted airspace.

Saudi Arabia considers the security of Mecca and its pilgrims to be a 'red line,' and the country has warned that it will take necessary measures against the Houthis if they continue to target the holy site.

The Houthi militia denied the allegation, saying that their operations are focused on targeting Saudi oil facilities and military bases, not Mecca.
