Saudi Arabia Draws 'Red Line' After Mecca Drone Attack Attempt

Saudi Arabia has declared Mecca a 'red line' after Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels attempted to attack the city, Islam's holiest site. The kingdom accused the Houthis of firing drones towards Mecca, but they deny involvement.

The Houthis have been targeting Saudi infrastructure and shipping in the Red Sea, where they have seized several islands on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Oil prices remain above $100 a barrel as tensions escalate.

Turkey and Pakistan have not received a request for military support from Saudi Arabia, despite being part of a new defense pact among the three countries. The US has expressed reluctance to get involved in the conflict, with President Donald Trump stating that the Houthis appear focused on targeting the Saudis.
