Saudi Arabia Halts East-West Pipeline Amid Reports of Drone Attacks
Saudi Arabia has taken a precautionary measure by shutting down its East-West Pipeline after reports of attacks on the strategic line. The pipeline, spanning over 1,200 kilometers, transports oil from the Gulf to the Red Sea, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. According to state news agency SPA, several people were injured in the attack, but no details have been given on possible damage or who carried out the assault.
CNN reported that pumping stations alongside the pipeline were struck by drones launched from Iraq. Satellite images appear to show fires may have broken out, although it is unclear whether the pipeline has been damaged.
