Saudi Arabia Issues Air-Raid Alerts as Houthi Attacks Intensify
Saudi Arabia's early warning system issued air-raid alerts for Riyadh on Saturday morning, marking the first such alert in the capital since March and April. The alerts were triggered at 4 a.m. and again at 6 a.m., but no further details were provided by authorities.
The Saudi civil defense reported that the danger had passed after both warnings. Similar alerts were also issued for other areas across the country, including Jeddah, Yanbu, and Farasan Island in the Red Sea.
This comes as Saudi Arabia faces renewed attacks from the Houthis, an Iran-backed group based in Yemen, which has targeted western towns and energy infrastructure this month. Last week's drone attack on Iraq caused a shutdown of the East-West pipeline, further straining the kingdom's oil exports.
