Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have strongly condemned an attack on two oil tankers belonging to the United Arab Emirates' state-owned oil company in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry described the incident as a 'dangerous escalation' and a 'direct threat' to maritime shipping and global energy supplies, holding Iran responsible for the consequences.

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry also condemned what it called an Iranian attack on the two Emirati vessels in the strategic waterway.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region and growing concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for transporting oil and other energy supplies from Gulf states to global markets.
