Saudi Arabia Passes Up Military Action After Oil Pipeline Attack

Saudi Arabia has chosen to condemn an attack on its oil pipeline rather than respond with military force. The attack, which was carried out by drones launched from within Iraq's Maysan province, caused several injuries and forced a precautionary shutdown of the pipeline system.

The pipeline, designed to transport crude oil from eastern fields to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, was targeted on no specific date mentioned. Instead of retaliating with military force, Saudi Arabia decided to hold off on direct armed action at the request of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.

The kingdom's decision allows the Iraqi government time to take necessary security steps against the perpetrators. In response, al-Zaidi ordered an urgent investigation into the attack and established an operational inquiry committee.
