Saudi Arabia Posts $9.12 Billion Budget Deficit in Second Quarter
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Finance has released figures showing a budget deficit of SR34.2 billion ($9.12 billion) in the second quarter of 2026.
The deficit was caused by government spending exceeding revenues, with total expenditures reaching about SR373 billion while total revenues stood at SR338.8 billion during the three months ended June.
Oil revenues accounted for SR185.1 billion of the total receipts, while non-oil revenues stood at SR153.7 billion during the quarter.
The International Monetary Fund's latest report notes that Saudi Arabia's economy is expected to stay resilient despite geopolitical conflicts and is projected to grow by 1.7 percent this year before accelerating to 5.5 percent in 2027.
