Saudi Arabia Rebooting Oil Exports Amid Growing Market Optimism
Saudi Arabia is preparing to resume crude oil exports from the Red Sea port of Yanbu as early as Tuesday, according to people familiar with the matter.
This comes after the kingdom's East-West oil pipeline was shut down following drone attacks earlier this month. The pipeline connects major oil-producing areas in the east with Yanbu on the Red Sea coast, allowing Saudi Arabia to export crude without relying on the Strait of Hormuz, which has a maximum capacity of around 7 million barrels per day.
The disruption had created significant threats to global oil supplies, but the restart of Yanbu exports eases supply fears and further boosts market sentiment. Oil prices have already fallen sharply from recent highs as markets priced in improving Saudi export flows alongside growing hopes of diplomatic progress between the US and Iran.
