Saudi Arabia secures 683,000 tons of wheat in latest tender
Saudi Arabia’s state grain buyer, the GFSA, has secured approximately 683,000 tons of wheat through an international tender, surpassing the initial target of 535,000 tons. The purchase underscores the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to meet domestic demand for wheat amid global supply fluctuations.
The wheat is set for delivery between November and December, with shipments arriving at multiple Red Sea ports. The grain will be transported in 11 vessels, distributed across four key ports: three to Jeddah, five to Yanbu, two to Neom, and one to Jazan.
While the tender’s specifics were not disclosed, the procurement highlights Saudi Arabia’s strategic approach to securing essential agricultural commodities. The GFSA’s decision to exceed the original tender volume may reflect rising demand or precautionary measures against potential supply chain disruptions.
