Saudi Arabia Seeks Allies' Support Amid Houthi Attacks
Saudi Arabia is seeking support from its allies after a surge in attacks by Yemen's Houthis, which have disrupted oil flows and strained regional tensions. According to Reuters, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan will hold an urgent meeting under their joint defense pact to discuss ways to assist the kingdom.
The Houthis have launched strikes on the Saudi-backed government in Yemen and repeatedly fired into Saudi Arabia, targeting oil facilities and disrupting global energy supplies. In response, Saudi's top religious authority has called on soldiers to be prepared to lay down their lives to fight against the Iran-aligned enemy.
Turkey's Chief of General Staff will travel to Saudi Arabia to meet with his counterparts as part of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement. The foreign ministers of the three countries have also met, condemning the attacks targeting civilian sites and affirming Saudi Arabia's right to defend itself.
