Saudi Arabia slashes November oil prices to Asia by $5 per barrel
Saudi Arabia has announced a significant cut in its November oil prices for Asian buyers. State-owned Aramco will reduce the price of Arab Light crude by $5 per barrel below the regional benchmark. This marks a steep drop from the $2 discount applied in October.
The decision comes as oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have increased in recent months. Saudi Arabia has also restored much of the capacity of its East-West pipeline following an attack. These developments have helped boost Middle Eastern crude exports to near pre-war levels, according to JPMorgan Chase.
Despite the increased flows, shipping costs remain elevated due to ongoing risks in the region. Many buyers are avoiding the Strait of Hormuz, leading to cargoes being transferred in the Gulf of Oman instead.
Traders and refiners had anticipated a $5 increase in prices from October, but the actual cut reflects the complex dynamics of global oil markets amid geopolitical tensions.
