Saudi Arabia Will Not Regain Control Over Yemen: Supreme Political Council
Yemen's Supreme Political Council head Mahdi al-Mashat said Saudi Arabia will not succeed in bringing Yemen back under its control. In a speech marking the 64th anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, which overthrew North Yemen's imamate, al-Mashat stated that Riyadh has obstructed the revolution's core goals from the start.
The revolution aimed to create a strong national army and improve economic, social, political, and cultural conditions for Yemenis. However, poverty, deprivation, and inequality persisted, and the country's national decisions were exposed to foreign interference and internal conflict.
Saudi Arabia has interfered directly in Yemen's domestic and foreign affairs for 64 years, relying on corrupt officials and traitors to extend its influence over state institutions and decision-making. Al-Mashat accused Riyadh of preventing Yemen from developing its oil and gas resources and undermining efforts to build a strong, just state that reflects the will of its people.
