Saudi Arabia's Alternative Supply Routes Ease Oil Price Pressures
Oil prices declined by around 3% on Tuesday following reports that Saudi Arabia is exploring alternative crude supply routes. The Brent crude for November delivery closed at $105.83 per barrel, down 2.69%, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for October delivery fell to $102.43 per barrel, a decline of 3.21%. These price drops came after two days of increases in international oil prices.
The concern over potential supply disruptions had been growing due to attacks on Saudi Arabia's key east-west pipeline and the suspension of shipments from Yanbu port. However, Saudi state oil company Aramco reportedly offered additional supplies to its long-term Asian contract buyers through an offshore transshipment method near Oman's Sohar port.
This development has eased concerns that crude supply could be severely impacted even if land and port transport routes are blocked.
