Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline Resumes Full Oil Flow at 5.8 Million Bpd
Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline is now operating at full capacity, with oil flows reaching 5.8 million barrels per day, according to Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman. The pipeline, which transports crude to the Red Sea export terminal at Yanbu, has not faced any interruptions, a source confirmed on Monday. This statement came after reports of a potential disruption amid rising tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis.
The pipeline was temporarily shut down following drone attacks on September 11, which halted crude loadings at Yanbu. Three sources familiar with the matter stated that operations were later restarted. Saudi Arabia has blamed Iraqi militias for the attacks.
The East-West Pipeline has gained significance due to disruptions in oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz caused by the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. Saudi Arabia has been rerouting approximately 4 million barrels per day through the pipeline to Yanbu, which accounts for about 4% of the global oil supply.
