Saudi Arabia's Oil Exports Under Siege Amid Regional Conflicts
Saudi Arabia has become a critical pivot point in the global economy due to its vast crude oil reserves. However, the country is currently facing significant challenges in exporting this oil due to ongoing conflicts and disruptions.
The main shipping route for Saudi oil exports, the Strait of Hormuz, has been severely restricted by war, forcing Riyadh to rely on a backup pipeline in the Red Sea. Unfortunately, even this route has been compromised with attacks from drones, including one that targeted pumping stations near Yanbu, the terminal on the Red Sea.
This has led to a major energy crunch, with European buyers being informed that they will not receive any Saudi oil at all. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the US, traditionally a protector and ally of Saudi Arabia, has declined to step in and assist.
