Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Oil Port Suspends Loading Amid Strait of Hormuz Concerns
Saudi Arabia's oil exports are facing yet another setback after the country's largest Red Sea port, Yanbu, suspended crude loading operations. This decision has pushed international crude prices to a four-month high, with WTI crude rising over 5% in intraday trading.
The suspension of loading at Yanbu is the latest blow to Saudi Arabia's efforts to bypass the Strait of Hormuz as an export route. Earlier this month, a drone attack forced the shutdown of the East-West Pipeline, which connects the eastern oilfields to the Red Sea port. The pipeline was expected to remain offline for several weeks.
The disruption has sent shockwaves through the market, with trade sources reporting that prices for crude shipments have risen above $120 per barrel. Saudi Aramco has notified some European customers of the cancellation of certain crude oil shipments, prompting major buyers to seek alternative supplies.
