Saudi Aramco Bolsters Oil Export Network Amid US-Iran Tensions
US-Israel tensions have pushed oil prices higher as Saudi Aramco's CEO Amin Nasser said the company can restore disrupted operations within days. The comments come amid concerns over Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure and shipping corridors.
Nasser revealed plans to develop additional crude oil export routes, including a fourth and fifth route for exports, in addition to its three primary routes. This move aims to give the world's largest oil exporter more options if one or more existing routes become unavailable due to security risks.
The Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb are critical waterways for Gulf oil exporters, with the former being a main maritime exit from the Persian Gulf and the latter connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden. Disruption at either chokepoint can force ships to take longer routes or use alternative transportation arrangements.
