Saudi Aramco Delays Jazan Refinery Restart After Weekend Attack

Saudi Aramco has pushed back the restart of its Jazan oil refinery to late August, following a weekend attack on the facility. The delay is approximately two weeks later than initially scheduled.

The 400,000-barrel-a-day complex in Saudi Arabia's southwest was targeted by Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen, who claimed responsibility for the attack. A fire broke out at the site, impacting one crude storage tank, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Saudi Aramco did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the delay or the cause of the blaze. The disruption to oil refineries in the Middle East and Russia is putting pressure on the global diesel market.
