Saudi Aramco Diversifies Exports Amid Houthi Threats
Saudi Aramco is taking steps to mitigate risks in shipping oil through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints.
The company has increased spot crude shipments from its Red Sea terminal at Ain Sokhna to Egypt's Mediterranean port of Sidi Kerir via the SUMED Pipeline.
This move is a response to renewed Houthi threats against Saudi-linked commercial shipping, which have heightened concerns over the security of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The SUMED Pipeline offers an alternative route for exports to European and North American markets, reducing dependence on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
