Saudi Coalition Disputes Houthi Claims of Riyadh Attack
The Saudi-led coalition has disputed claims by Houthi rebels that they attacked Riyadh, calling them 'misleading.'
The controversy surrounds reports of flames at an oil facility south of Riyadh, which were captured by Agence France-Presse (AFP) on October 3. The Houthis claimed to have struck a site belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco, but Gen. Turki al-Maliki, a spokesperson for the coalition, said they were 'chasing imaginary victories.'
The fighting between the Iran-backed Houthi rebels and Yemen's internationally recognized government reignited in July. The conflict has intensified, with recent fighting centered on Taiz, where Houthi forces have struggled to gain control from government forces.
