Saudi Coalition Intercepts Houthi Drones Targeting Riyadh Amid Escalating Conflict

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has intercepted drones and ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi rebels, including two targeting Riyadh.

The strikes are the latest in a series of escalating attacks since July, when renewed hostilities shattered a years-long truce.

A spokesman for the coalition said air defences intercepted and destroyed two drones headed towards Riyadh, as well as two ballistic missiles targeting Khamis Mushait, a city in the country's southwest with an air base.

The Houthi militia has imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, hitting tankers, seizing parts of Yemen's Red Sea coast vital for oil exports, and causing energy prices to jump.
