Saudi Crown Prince Meets with Egyptian President Amid Escalating Yemen Conflict
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo to discuss increased attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels on shipping and infrastructure.
The Houthis have made significant gains in recent days, capturing territory that could allow them to choke off Saudi Arabian oil exports through the Red Sea.
According to the Houthis, they shot down a Saudi Arabian F-15 fighter jet using a locally made air-to-air missile while it was carrying out hostile operations in support of its military mobilizations in the airspace of Marib Province.
The Egyptian president's office expressed 'Egypt's unwavering position in supporting Saudi Arabia,' but did not provide details on any future steps.
