Saudi Crown Prince Seeks US Help Against Escalating Houthi Attacks

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has sought help from the US to counter attacks by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group, which have escalated in recent weeks.

The crown prince met with US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper in Jeddah on Monday, amid concerns over Saudi oil exports and global shipping through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Houthi attacks have targeted Saudi cities and energy infrastructure, prompting the kingdom to request the postponement of a meeting between Tehran and Gulf powers that was supposed to take place in Oman on Monday.

The US has agreed to provide intelligence-sharing and targeting assistance to help Saudi Arabia combat the Houthis, but has not committed to military strikes.
