Saudi East-West Pipeline Back Online After Drone Strike Repairs

Saudi Arabia has resumed oil exports through its East-West Pipeline after completing repairs following drone strikes on September 10.

The pipeline was tested last week ahead of the restart, with shipments destined for export now moving through the route. This major alternative route provides Saudi Arabia with a crucial means of crude exports, reducing reliance on maritime shipments through the Strait of Hormuz amid continued risks to shipping in the Arabian Gulf.

The East-West Pipeline has a capacity of 7 million barrels per day. Approximately 2 million barrels per day typically supply refineries on Saudi Arabia’s west coast, leaving the remaining capacity available for exports.
