Saudi East-West Pipeline Shut Down Amid Multiple Attacks
Saudi Arabia's strategic East-West oil pipeline has been temporarily shut down after multiple attacks hit facilities along the system in the Riyadh and Madinah regions.
The attacks occurred on Thursday morning, injuring several people, according to the Saudi Energy Ministry. Emergency teams were deployed to assess the damage and secure the pipeline.
With Iran effectively closing normal traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia has rerouted approximately five million barrels of oil per day through the East-West Pipeline. This allows the kingdom to bypass Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy chokepoints.
