Saudi Energy Ministry Grants Al-Kharj Gas Network Licence
The Saudi Ministry of Energy has granted Natural Gas Distribution Company a licence to build, own, and operate a natural gas network in Al-Kharj Industrial City. The decision came after a competitive bidding process that included investor prequalification and thorough bid evaluations.
The project is part of Saudi Arabia's Liquid Fuel Displacement Programme, which encourages industries to switch from liquid fuels to natural gas. This initiative also supports Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to optimize the Kingdom's hydrocarbon resources for economic, environmental, and social benefits.
The licence award highlights the country's commitment to diversifying its energy mix and reducing reliance on liquid fuels. The natural gas network in Al-Kharj is expected to enhance industrial efficiency and contribute to sustainable development goals.
