Saudi-Led Coalition Intercepts Six Ballistic Missiles Fired by Houthi Rebels
A Saudi-led coalition intercepted six ballistic missiles targeting Saudi Arabia's port of Yanbu and southwestern city of Taif, according to Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki.
The missiles were fired by Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen, who have been backed by Iran in their fight against the internationally recognized government of Yemen.
Recent days have seen attempted attacks on Riyadh, the Saudi capital, and other areas, with the Houthis claiming to have fired dozens of ballistic missiles and drones at Jazan province.
The situation has caused concern among global markets as the Houthis pursue a blockade of Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, which could disrupt shipping through the Red Sea.
