Saudi Oil Exports Reach Four-Month High Despite Regional Tensions

Saudi Arabia's oil exports have reached their highest level since March this year, according to data from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI). In July, the country exported 4.125 million barrels per day (bpd), a 3.3% increase from June and the highest output since March.

The increase in exports coincided with a rise in Saudi Arabia's crude oil production to 8.135 million bpd in July, up from 7.122 million bpd in June. The higher output is expected to be short-lived, however, as UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo predicts that exports will weaken in August due to intensifying tensions involving the Houthi group.

The Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for oil exports, may reopen within seven days if the United States reduces its military pressure on Iran and lifts its blockade of Iranian ports. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has resumed operations at the East-West Pipeline, which could lead to increased oil exports from the Red Sea port of Yanbu.
