Saudi Oil Pipeline Hit in Attack Will Be Out for Weeks

A crucial Saudi oil pipeline was severely damaged in an attack last week, and it will be mostly out of service for several weeks as repairs are made. The East-West Pipeline is a key component of Saudi Arabia's strategy to shift its oil exports to the Red Sea, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.

The 1,200-kilometer pipeline can carry up to 7 million barrels of oil per day. Two regional officials told the Associated Press that the damage will significantly impact the kingdom's ability to transport crude through this pipeline.
