Saudi Oil Pipeline Shutdown Highlights Global Energy Market Risks

The Saudi East-West oil pipeline was shut down after drone attacks damaged pumping stations. The country plans to restart operations, but this temporary closure has reduced its flexibility in exporting crude oil.

The pipeline carries oil from Saudi Arabia's eastern fields to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. This route is crucial as it provides an alternative to shipping through the Gulf and avoids potential disruptions.

However, with the shutdown, some European refiners have been informed that October supplies from Yanbu will not arrive. Saudi Arabia still has other export routes available, but this development highlights the risks of relying on a single route.
