Saudi Oil Tanker Attacked in Hormuz, Two Crew Members Killed

Saudi Arabia's national shipping company, Bahri, has confirmed that two Filipino seafarers were killed in an attack on one of its oil tankers, Sidr. The incident occurred on Monday night while the vessel was transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Saudi foreign ministry stated that the kingdom stresses the necessity of halting escalations and respecting international maritime safety and global energy supplies. Bahri is in contact with the vessel's crew and coordinating closely with relevant authorities.

This incident marks the latest in a series of attacks on oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which has been threatened by Iran. In July, another Bahri vessel, Wedyan, was hit while passing through the strait close to Oman's coast. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global energy trade, with about one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas passing through it.
