Saudi Oil Tanker Attacked in Red Sea Amid Escalating Maritime Blockade
Saudi Arabia's oil tanker 'Wafa' was attacked by Yemen's Ansar Allah in the Red Sea, off the coast of Yanbu. This is the eighth Saudi oil tanker targeted since the start of the blockade on July 22.
The group claimed to have successfully targeted the vessel with several ballistic missiles. The attack is part of their declared maritime blockade of the kingdom.
Saudi Arabia has diverted its oil tankers towards the northern Red Sea in response to the blockade, which has pushed Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz and made Yanbu a crucial transit route for crude.
