Saudi Oil Tankers Attacked in Strait of Hormuz Amid Escalating Tensions

Two Saudi oil tankers were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday evening, according to Reuters. The incident marked an escalation of tensions in the region.

The tankers, Sidr and Senegal Prosperity, were carrying a total of 2 million barrels of Saudi crude oil that was loaded at the Juaima terminal last week, data from Kpler showed.

The attacks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the US over control of the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is crucial for global oil supplies, with about a fifth of the world's oil passing through it before the recent blockades.

Saudi Aramco had resumed loading and selling oil through the strait in August after previous disruptions.
