Saudi Oil Tankers Attacked in Strait of Hormuz Amid Escalating Tensions

Two supertankers carrying Saudi oil were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, according to shipping intelligence and tracking firms Marisks and Kpler. The incidents occurred within minutes of each other while the tankers were transiting outbound through the strait.

The tankers, Sidr and Senegal Prosperity, each loaded 2 million barrels of Saudi crude at the Juaymah terminal last week. This escalation in threats comes as efforts by mediators including Qatar and Oman to reopen the strait have proven inconclusive.

Oil prices gained on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened further strikes against Iran following the first exchanges of fire since late July.
