Saudi Pipeline Damage Raises Tensions Over Oil Exports
A key oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia was damaged by drones originating from Iraq, prompting concerns about the country's ability to export crude oil. The East-West pipeline suffered scorching across one pump station and a separate fire at a second location, with satellite imagery revealing nine large blazes in the area.
The emergency flare pits along the pipeline accounted for six of those fires, used to combust excess oil and gas. This incident raises questions about Saudi Arabia's energy security and its ability to maintain exports amidst rising tensions in the region.
