Saudi Pipeline Disruption Halts Crude Deliveries to Europe
Saudi Arabia's decision to halt crude deliveries to Europe has sent shockwaves through the global energy market. The move is a direct result of drone attacks on a major pipeline, which forced Saudi Aramco to temporarily shut down flows on its East-West pipeline to the Red Sea.
The pipeline, which usually supplies European refineries with Saudi crude via Egypt's Sidi Kerir port, will be partially operational again within a week and back to full capacity in six weeks. However, this timeline may not be sufficient to meet Europe's energy needs, particularly as buyers scramble to secure replacement shipments.
The disruption has led to a surge in demand for alternative crude sources, with some European refiners already seeking new suppliers. The price of international Brent crude has hovered at around $104 per barrel, having declined slightly from four-month highs earlier in the week.
