Saudi Pipeline Shutdown Threatens 4% of Global Oil Supply
Saudi Arabia's oil supply has been severely impacted by a drone attack on its east-west pipeline, which has forced the shutdown of the route. The pipeline, which reroutes around 4 million barrels per day - approximately 4% of global supply - to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea, is currently out of service.
The lack of this major pipeline has put pressure on Saudi Arabia's oil exports, with stocks at ports expected to run out in just five to seven days. This has raised concerns about a potential loss of up to 4% of global oil supply if the pipeline does not resume operations soon.
Saudi Arabia has not provided details on the extent of the damage or how long repairs will take, with estimates ranging from five to six weeks to fix the pipeline. The country's energy ministry and government media office did not respond to requests for comment.
