Saudi Arabia has condemned an attack on one of its oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the deaths of two Filipino sailors.

The tanker, Sidr, was owned by Bahri, Saudi Arabia's national shipping company, and was carrying Saudi oil when it was struck on Monday night.

Bahri stated that the safety incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. on Monday, but did not provide further details about the attack.

Tehran has threatened tankers attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without permission, which could hinder energy exports from neighboring oil-rich countries in the Persian Gulf.
