Saudi Ties Found in Climate Science Reports

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been criticized for its handling of conflict of interest cases involving authors linked to Saudi oil and gas interests.

A Guardian investigation found that at least a dozen IPCC lead authors have ties to Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company responsible for more carbon emissions than any other entity in history.

One such author is Dr. Mustafa Babiker, who has worked for Aramco for 20 years and was appointed as a coordinating lead author for the IPCC's Seventh Assessment Report.

Babiker declared his relationship with Aramco on the IPCC's conflict of interest form, but critics argue that this did not address the underlying issue.
