Saudi-US Strikes Hit Iran-Backed Militias in Iraq
Saudi Arabia and the US carried out targeted strikes against Iran-backed militia positions in Iraq on July 28, according to a statement from the Saudi Defence Ministry.
The operation was conducted in coordination with US Central Command (CENTCOM) and aimed at disrupting attacks blamed on Iran-aligned armed groups.
Saudi officials said the strikes were in response to repeated drone attacks on the kingdom's oil infrastructure, which had been launched by militias linked to Iran.
CENTCOM confirmed that American and Saudi forces carried out precision strikes against what it described as 'Iran-aligned militants directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)'.
