SEC Greenlights Volatility Shares' 3x Leveraged Bitcoin and Ether ETPs
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the listing of six new futures-based exchange-traded products (ETPs) from Volatility Shares' VS Trust. These ETPs will track three times the daily performance of Bitcoin, Ether, gold, silver, crude oil, and natural gas.
The approved products include 3x Bitcoin ETF, 3x Ether ETF, 3x Gold ETP, 3x Silver ETP, 3x Crude Oil ETP, and 3x Natural Gas ETP. They will use regulated futures contracts to track the prices of their respective underlying assets.
Volatility Shares' VS Trust has already launched 2x Bitcoin ETF (BITX) and 2x Ether ETF (ETHU). The new approval gives the firm a path to offer 3x leveraged crypto products.
However, trading on these ETPs will not begin immediately. A separate Form S-1 registration statement must be declared effective by the SEC before the public tickers can start trading on brokerages.
