Selkirk Copper's Minto Project Sees Strong Restart Strategy with 13-Year Mine Life
Selkirk Copper has announced positive results from its Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the Minto Project, a copper-gold-silver mine in Yukon. The PEA outlines a strong restart strategy with low initial capital expenditures and a long mine life of 13 years at a rate of 4,100 tonnes per day.
The project is expected to produce peak output of 27,200 tpa copper-equivalent contained in concentrate or 48,700 tpa of high-grade copper concentrate. First concentrate production is targeted for H2 2028 with full ramp-up by H1 2029, subject to feasibility work and permitting.
The PEA estimates an after-tax net present value (NPV)7% of C$494M at Planning Prices, with a 47.8% internal rate of return (IRR) and a 1.9-year payback on initial capital expenditures of C$186M. At Spot Prices, the NPV7% increases to C$1,023M with an IRR of 78.2% and a 1.3-year payback.
